A fascinating collection of Spanish art from the country’s greatest artists, such as Picasso and Dalí

Built in the 18th century to be a hospital and used with this purpose till the middle of the 20th century, the Reina Sofia Art Center (so called in honor of the former Queen of Spain) is one of the three major Museums in our” Art Promenade”, together with Prado and Thyssen.

An old impressive building for a splendid contemporary collection whose oldest paintings date from the very late 19th century.

With our licensed guide, we’ll explore the evolution of Spanish contemporary art through the cubist work of Juan Gris, the astonishing sculptures of Julio González or Pablo Gargallo, the world-famous work of Dalí, etc. And, of course, the Museum masterpiece: Guernica by Picasso, that finally arrived in our country in 1981 and it is really breath-taking.

Fortunately, the collection continues growing, so in 2005 the French architect Jean Nouvel designed the new and very modern extension of this Museum that perfectly matches the old one. Don’t miss this tour if you like contemporary art!
