Ribera del Duero is home to some of Spain’s most sought after and applauded wines. Located in Castilla y León, roughly 2 hours north of Madrid, the vineyards of Ribera del Duero stretch intermittently for over 70 miles along the River Duero. These sprawling lands feature a mix of different soils, exposures and elevations that create optimal ripening conditions for the Tempranillo grapes that define Ribera del Duero wines distinctive character.
The winemakers in D.O. Ribera del Duero combines traditional expertise with new technologies to define their individual style. This includes triage tables and optical sorting, where human hands and eyes select only the best quality grapes to be pressed.
We will have a private visit to some of the top wine cellars in the Ribera del Duero area, where we will know about the history of these cellars. With our local guide and the members of the cellars we will share some stories and facts, including a sample tasting of the most exclusive selected wines. Depending on the season, we can add a hands-on experience and take part in the traditional way of grape crushing or vine pruning. The experience culminates with a traditional lunch surrounded by vineyards in the middle of nature and based on some regional highlights, such as the suckling lamb, local cheeses and farm-to-table vegetables.
