So close and yet so different… Rioja is the Spanish wine region par excellence. The vineyards of La Rioja stretch to the south of the mountain range Sierra de Cantabria, just south of the Basque Country. The area is dotted with small picturesque mediaeval villages, traditional wine cellars and modern new wineries, set into a stunning landscape.

Unlike other wine destinations, La Rioja has maintained its authenticity, its charm and its essence. It is a rural zone where vineyards spread out until the skyline and prehistoric megaliths witness the traditional harvest year after year.   

We will have a private visit to one of the top cellars in the Rioja area where we will have the opportunity to get to know about the history of the cellar and share some stories and facts with our local guide and the members of the cellar who will come along with a sample tasting of the most exclusive selected wines. Depending on the season, we can add hands-on experience and take part in the traditional way of grape crushing or vine pruning. The experience culminates with the jewel of the crown, which is a traditional outdoors lunch surrounded by vineyards in the middle of nature and based on grilled suckling lamb* with the outstanding vegetables from the renowned “huerta riojana” (Rioja’s vegetable garden).
