To reach the beauty of the Costa Brava demands a 1h 45 min drive from Barcelona, though it is a highly rewarding experience. Our guide will show you the stunning views of the cliffs and coves as we walk along a comfortable wide path from Calella de Palafrugell to LLafranch, two beautiful fishing villages that still preserve their original atmosphere with their little white fishing houses.
After this wonderful experience, we will drive to some medieval villages on the Empordà Plain which still preserve the excellence of medieval architecture, such as Peretallada and Monells. Then, we will drive to the less known but equally impressive surrealist construction by Dalí: Púbol castle.
The Gala Dalí Castle of Púbol was originally a fortified mansion dating back to the 11th century, though most of it was built during the 14th century. The artist spent years looking for a castle for his queen, his beloved Gala. Their fantasy became a reality: Gala became his beloved queen of her Castle and Dali her beloved knight, like in a poem from the Middle Ages. The castle went through a new surrealist transformation between 1982 and 1984, mostly to enhance the memory of Gala. A homage to her value and to her talented creations, so Dalí could cherish the love and the muse of his life.
