An expert guide will take you on a private early morning tour to unveil the secrets of Gaudí and his wonderful nature-inspired building. He based his technology on what he observed in the natural world and developed the concept of ‘ergonomic design’, drawing handles, tables, closets and chairs to perfectly fit the dimensions of the human body.
The rooftop resembles an army protecting the property. The arches that connect the ventilation towers to the railing frame the landscape, with a view of Sagrada Familia, as if it were a picture hanging in your home. The display of plaster models in the attic help to explain Gaudi’s revolutionary engineering designs. The visit to the apartment depicting the “old & modern” household, with its decor and furniture from 1910 is a rather amusing experience
After the private tour, you will be offered a hot chocolate, in winter, or a refreshing drink in summer in the authentic old Cafeteria of La Pedrera. The building’s real name is actually “Casa Milà”, which was the name of the first owners. The Catalan nickname ‘Pedrera’, means quarry, and it was simply a bad joke made about the house, which according to exponents of the “Noucentisme classic style” looked as ugly as a quarry. Today it is one of the city’s treasures.
