The aristocratic area, also known as The Gothic Quarter is the center of the old city. It includes the Parliament and the City Council, both built 700 years ago and still in use, as well as the Royal Palace Complex, now a museum. Our expert guide will take you to concealed little squares and alleys to discover its hidden secrets. The old Synagogue and the ancient Jewish quarter are a demonstration of the importance of the Jewish Catalan community in the Middle Ages. You will visit several old and curious shops, as well as small workshops and interesting art galleries.
This will be followed by a thrilling walk through the Born Quarter, one of the most interesting areas in Barcelona, an area popular with designers and artisans. Last but not least, from Tuesday to Saturday, a visit to a fresh food market is a must: La Boqueria and Santa Caterina are the two biggest of the 39 fresh food markets in Barcelona. Here you can smell and see, and taste if you like, the fresh ingredients of the famous Mediterranean diet, with different fresh fruits and groceries provided all year round.
